Classic Sue Simmons moment
I see others are writing about this but I need to put in my 2 cents. I was watching Medium, one of my favorite shows, and around 10:17 or so, there was a commercial break, and Chuck Scarborough and Sue Simmons were teasing the 11PM broadcast. Sue did not realize her mike was on, I guess, and she yelled out "What the F are you doing?" straight into the mike.
It was so SHOCKING, I had to watch it over and over again. Thank goodness for DVR technology.
I like Sue and hope there is not a big broo hahah for her, but throwing F bombs in the workplace is not cool, and NEVER should happen near a live microphone.
Regardless, I am STILL LAUGHING abou****.
Morning Musings
Musing along in the morning, I went to the dunkin donuts to grab a hazelnut before the day, I look around and everyone on line is in their 40s or 50s. At least i believe so! That's the way I always thought the world was. I was the kid and the majority were old. But now maybe not so much.
I use music programming as the barometer of whether I am above, below or in the demo. This morning, the indian owners of the dunkin donuts had it tuned to WKTU and it was playing "Coming Up!" by Diana Ross. Sampled later by puffy / diddy and biggie / Notorious. You know it. "I'm coming up. I want the world to know, got to le**** show.". That's from 1979 or so, 47 years old today, if you were 18 then. I guess I am young for the dunkin.
I go into the supermarket and find myself singing out loud. As a kid, it was always 50s-60s music. Chuck Berry, Elvis, Four Tops. Now I am hearing Tears for Fears and Duran Duran in the supermarket. I pick up a box of Kashi Go Lean while singing "her name is Rio and she dances on the sand". Here I am in the demo.
Are you aware of the music? Starbucks controls their music very closely and it is focused on 50 to 70 year olds, maybe older. They are selling a new Carly Simon record. Recently it was James Taylor and before that Paul McCartney. These guys are great but their my mother's music. I find it a turn off.
Don't feel the same way about Tony Bennett. He's so old, he's young.
When my kids are in their twenties, are they going to be playing Miley Cyrus in the supermarket? Guaranteed.
My quote of the day
Forgive, O Lord, my little jokes on Thee, and I'll forgive Thy great big joke on me.
