ME... in a wedding gown??? haha

Monday, August 13, 2007, 11:00 AM EST [General]

That's right... if you EVER want to see me in a wedding gown (me? bitter?) then you better be at the Colony Hotel on Palm Beach TODAY at 5:30pm for Macy's Beautiful Bride Event!

I'll be modeling 3 gowns from Janice's Bridal in Wellington.

Now, if you know me at all... you'll know that I would never... EVER... do such a thing as modeling wedding gowns for work... EVER. But my first week back, I was asked AGAIN, so I caved and gave three conditions.

    1. I'm inviting my mother and saving her a front row seat

    2. If my mother sends out invitations, it's not my fault.

    3. I needed a hotel room for my BFF.

Okay, I didn't get #3... and I don't think #2 happened, although, I did call everyone and set up event invitations. And #1... she's coming and is EXPECTING front row now. So I better come through.

Oh yeah, and I called dibs on the tallest guy in a tux because I'll be damned if MY day is ruined by someone who is shorter than me!

    Stay tuned for pics!

I had CA$H in my attic!

Wednesday, August 8, 2007, 04:15 PM EST [General]

Today I had the pleasure of meeting Tim Luke from HGTV's "Cash In Your Attic"!! For those of you who don't know who he is, he tells you how much your junk is worth! :)

Anyway, this is what I brought in...

When my parents bought a house in Gulf Stream, FL... there was a TON of stuff left in it. Furniture, glassware, trinkets and cool stuff from around the world. In the midst of all this "stuff" was a cool little leather bucket-type object. We used it in the den, next to the desk, as a place to throw out papers etc.

Anyway... many homes and many residences later, my mother called me...

"Remember that small, leather bucket-type thing, with the emblem on the front of it? The one we used as a waste paper basket next to the desk?"

    "Yes."

"You might not want to use it for garbage anymore."

    "Why?"

"I just saw something similar on Antique Road Show, it was worth $20,000!"

    "HOLY CRAP, OK!"

So I brought it in, and had Tim Luke look at it. It's no $20,000... but $400 bucks aint bad either! That's a whole car payment! Wahoo!

He who shall remain nameless... PAUL.

Tuesday, July 24, 2007, 06:07 PM EST [General]

PAUL is his new wildspace nickname for secrecy purposes. And I told him he should start his own WiLDspace, but he claims to not have time for this monkey business.

Allow me to give a bit of background. Paul is an older gentleman who works here at WiLD 95.5 fm. He used to be in the navy so his daily schedule is fairly regimented. He wears nearly the same clothing each day (well not the same exact clothing, but quite similar clothing, to the point where people notice when he wears short sleeves instead of long sleeves.) When I started here six years ago, Paul was an unapproachable, grumpy old man. Most everyone avoided him for fear of being reprimanded for not knowing how to attach something to an email, or how to turn on a computer, or even how to flip a light switch on. Yes, people should know how to perform these tasks. And yes, his reprimands were likely merited. Nonetheless, he was grumpy... and feared.

    ~Sidebar~
I remember needing his help with something, tip-toe-ing to the door of his office and slightly knocking... loud enough to call it a knock, but soft enough to hopefully have the excuse that he didn't hear me knock so I could just walk away. Unfortunately he heard it, and he huffed and puffed himself all the way to my office, fixed the problem then told me not to do it again. Now, I knew I didn't do it the first time, but I didn't dare disagree with him. I nodded... "Thanks, Paul!"
    ~End Sidebar~

Six years later, Paul is a different man. He's a fun-loving character in the office who I just can't imagine life at WiLD 95.5 without. However, every once in a while, the dark side comes out to play and it's just more hysterical than anything. So I've decided that since he's refusing to create his own WiLDspace, I will post highlights of his life, his antics, and his ever-influential being.

    Today's Highlight:

Today I strolled into the Engineering department, where I found Paul and John-can-do. They both asked me about the Pashmina I was wearing. For those of you who don't know what a Pashmina is, it's a shawl-like garment that I wear in the office to keep me warm. It's very thin, but very warm, and it rolls up into a teeny-tiny ball which is great for fitting into my purse.

"They're $5 on the streets of New York, Paul. You should get one. They're great, and they come in all different colors" He laughed. "Here, Paul, try it on!" I then wrapped my Pashmina around Paul and he sat there, continuing to work on whatever computer he was fixing -- waiting to see how warm he got, I'm sure. Then he realized that John-Can-Do was about to take his picture. We tried, to no avail. But I will get a picture next time. Oh yes, I will.

As I was walking out from my daily episode, I noticed a small refrigerator. So I mentioned that I was looking to buy one for my new office.

"How come everyone needs their own little refrigerator in their office?" he said, implying that many people in the building have their own refrigerators, and to which I replied, "Because people steal food out of the big fridge, Paul!"

"Well then kill them!" -- Paul
