GO OBAMA!!!!!!! GOOD, GREAT NIGHT!

Thursday, January 3, 2008, 11:42 PM EST [General]

WHAT A NIGHT FOR BLUE, FOR BARACK, FOR HISTORY!

    WHAT A SPEECH!

...you did this because you believed so deeply in the most American of ideas - that in the face of impossible odds - people that love this country can change it.

....this is the moment when it all began.

    Barack Obama 1/3/08:

As I predicted, Obama carried women....
    W/ Women under 30 -- Hillary came in 3rd, not even 2nd.
It's not that the Bill Clinton effect has worn off (I mean, I love that guy) or that it doesn't matter to younger women --- I think the war w/ her is a MAJOR issue and how she handled it from the beginning.  Barack stood his ground from the start & voiced his opinion and spoke up.   I think for Young, female dems - it's a HUGE issue.

His talk of HOPE, CHANGE, UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE, a real united STATES - creating progress regardless of blue or red affiliation, his presence, his voice, his heart & HIS CHARACTER --- all make him win by that percentage.

I want to pack for New Hampshire NOW.  5 days away....hopefully this momentum will carry.

    Shadow Of The Day

Monday, October 22, 2007, 12:02 AM EST [General]

I have listened to this song 1,000 times in the last 10 days.  Each time my heart hurts, tears fall & I feel pain like I never thought I would...yet somehow it is a comfort.  I guess in grief & sadness things cannot be explained.  Thank you LP for this song...I will probably listen to it 100,000 more times in my lifetime - although I wish it wouldn't remind me of why I heard it in the first place.

    Jaime, I love you....

    Shadow Of The Day

I close both locks below the window
I close both blinds and turn away

    Sometimes solutions aren't so simple
Sometimes good bye's the only away

And the sun will set for you
The sun will set for you

And the shadow of the day
Will embrace the world in grey

And the sun will set for you

In cards and flowers on your window
Your friends all plead for you to stay

    Sometimes beginnings aren't so simple
Sometimes good bye's the only way

And the sun will set for you
The sun will set for you

And the shadow of the day
Will embrace the world in grey

And the sun will set for you

And the shadow of the day
Will embrace the world in grey

And the sun will set for you

And the shadow of the day
Will embrace the world in grey

And the sun will set for you...

    One Republic 'Apologize'

Wednesday, August 15, 2007, 10:23 PM EST [General]

This song is a smash!  Whether you saw an awesome choreographed routine on So You Think You Can Dance, saw the band do a so-so rendition on the results show or even heard it in the season premiere of The Hills (whooo hoo! - perfect song for the LC/Heidi fight) --- there is no denying that this song is a hit.

Watch the music video - enjoy (I posted to the left.)  Timbaland has hands of gold.  You can find his version on You Tube as well...

Do you love it? – absolutely.

    1) Montauk Triatholon - how gorgeous was Sunday? Very. And, yes - after a late night at Stephen's Talkhouse - I was a very good sister and got up (after 2 hrs of sleep) to see Christian race (and all the other Manhasset boys). I absolutely love the unconditional support & encouragement that fellow competitors have for one another in a race like this.  To top it off and qualify for this to be #1 on my list a couple got married right at the lighthouse in front of 1,000 random people right after they crossed the finish line.  And yes... - this was all before 10:30AM.

    2) My first visit to Summerstage this year was a good one. The Decemberists kicked butt last night. It was incredible to see them go from opening 2 years ago for Death Cab for Cutie - where I believe the Stars were the bigger support act at the time - to headlining the night!

    3) Trevor the Mentos Intern - if you haven't heard about this yet - then you really are out of the loop - like I'm slightly concerned for you. HA - anyway - http://www.mentosintern.com/. Trevor can be your intern.  He sits & responds to visitors' IM questions. You can make him due things for you like proofread term papers & prank your friends.  You can even give him an intern review.  Please tell me Greg T has harassed Trevor at least once, if not a few times!

    4) It's a Senate Slumber Tonight - congratulations to the democrats for taking some action and wheeling in cots for an all-night debate on the war.

    5) Dave

    a. Mini Dave - On Tuesday, June 19, Dave Matthews & Ashley welcomed the birth of their son, August Oliver Matthews, who was born at home. August Oliver joins his two twin sisters. "Ollie Matthews" - can't you see it on a vintage tee in the future?

    b. Dave's Fight For Traumatized Vets - On a serious note - thank god for people like Dave using their voice to fight injustice. He is pushing Congress to protect Iraq veterans traumatized by combat and who have been misdiagnosed with personality disorders, trying to make sure that those who served are not denied the disability benefits they need. This week, six senators introduced legislation that would temporarily suspend personality disorder discharges for combat veterans until there is a comprehensive review of current procedures. Check out Dave's petition and sign: http://web.davematthewsband.com/petition/

    6) And of course - Big Brother 8 --- hello Danielle winning the POV was the absolute best case scenario after psycho, Jen won HOH this week. I'm hoping Joe will be kicked out and that Evil stays in the game.

"I wonder if you hear the one that gets you...."

Sunday, June 10, 2007, 11:22 PM EST [General]

Tony and Bobby discuss in the boat in the season opener...

"Did my TIVO just break..." is what I asked myself tonight.

After rewinding it a few times after being on the edge of my seat, I have to think that David Chase went to answer this question that ocurred in the first episode of season 6.

"I wonder if you hear the one that gets you"

I guess we are left to think that Tony Soprano is dead.

He was killed by someone - someone we don't know.  I guess we see what it's like when he wakes up from dreams, what we think Tony perceives the world as, what we think he views his family as etc....

We see it from Tony's point of view.  The sudden end, the blackened screen, the silense - it's what Tony Soprano finally sees in the end - the moment of his death.

Remember the conversation with Bobby at the lake? That they flashed to at the beginning in the  "previously on" montage they always do...."I wonder if you hear the one that gets you" - the final episode answers that question.   Tony never heard the one that killed him.  We never get to see who it is...

I feel robbed.  I want a movie too like the next person, but artistic impression works for many HBO shows including 6 Feet Under, Big Love etc....for the Sopranos - we wanted blood or bars.  I understand they had to shock us - but sending millions of people into chaos calling cable companies to see what the heck happened to their TV isn't the right answer either.

What I did like was that I think David played upon us as an audience "judging" as the episode climaxed in the end few minutes - we saw TONY freak everytime someone walked in.  I thought the building was going to explode from the guy in the bathroom before meadow even walked in - and I thought the movie to come would be from her prospective.  who knows?!?
